Wendy Crawford is a fine art conservator specializing in the treatment of easel paintings; additionally, she has experience with other painted surfaces such as murals, painted objects and both organic and inorganic materials. She is a member of the Canadian Association For Conservation Of Cultural Property (CAC) and the American Institute for Conservation (AIC). She joined Art Conservation Services, Inc. in 2014. Wendy received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History and European History from McMaster University in 2003, graduated from the Collections Conservation and Management program at Sir Sandford Fleming College in 2005, and earned a Masters in Art Conservation from Queen’s University in 2013. Before moving to London she was a Kress Fellow at the Cincinnati Art Museum, working specifically on research and conservation of their Spanish Baroque collection. Wendy’s studies included internships with the National Gallery of Canada, the Canadian Conservation Institute, Library and Archives Canada, and in private practice. Wendy continues her training by attending workshops on scientific analytical methods and annual conferences of the CAC and AIC. Wendy has experience with a variety of painted media and supports, including oil, watercolour, acrylic, and encaustic paintings on canvas, canvas board, wood panel, ivory and metal; she also repairs frames and some three-dimensional objects and sculptural works. She can offer advice and recommendations on preservation strategies, collections care, storage and environmental conditions for your art and objects.
