Jennifer Robertson, BFA, MAC
Book and Paper Conservator
Jennifer Robertson is an art conservator specializing in works of art and archival items on paper, as well as bound volumes. She is a member of the Canadian Association For Conservation Of Cultural Property (CAC) and the American Institute for Conservation (AIC). She joined Art Conservation Services Inc in 2013.
Jennifer obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts at The Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University (NSCADU) in 2005, and then graduated with a Masters in Art Conservation from Queen’s University in 2011. She subsequently spent several years furthering her conservation training in the US and the UK. She interned at the New York Academy of Medicine, Johns Hopkins University Libraries, The Smithsonian Institution Libraries and The British Library before returning to her hometown of London, Ontario to join Art Conservation Services Inc. She regularly continues her education in the history and conservation of books and works on paper by attending Rare Book School in Charlottesville, Virginia, and conferences and workshops offered by the CAC and AIC.
Jennifer has a particular interest in treating historical and archival objects such as documents, prints, maps, photographs and books. She has experience working with many types of media and materials used in 18th and 19th century artworks and archival materials, and additionally is familiar with book materials and structures from 15th century vellum manuscripts to 20th century publisher’s bindings. She is happy to consult with clients about the best methods to conserve and preserve objects, and provides a range of services from full conservation treatment to storage enclosures and advice on environmental conditions for a collection.
